in the original Helen is not a strong, independant journalist - and there is no "big news story" nonsense, "can you end homlessnes with all that money", "how about ending poverty wordlwide" lala virtue signaling; Keene has hands on involvement in silo development not just some clumsy drill fairy tale - and he was scammed to participate in it; Anna plays a way bigger role; there are no irrelevant Charlotte's personal stories; there is no Iran dirty bomb bs (which in S03 is totally randomly thrown in) - Iran angle is way more interesting - here they basically say that they are at an open war, but go around their lives as if nothing is happening, haha; the senator plays 10x bigger role and there are no cringy rich guys unicorn stories etc.

If S03 feels random, it's because it is and none of that is a fault of the original author. It's just a mild censorship and an artificial adjustment of the story which logically feels fake/out of place. They just put a condom on a good story and drew flowers on it which you are obliged to like.

And I think that in next seasons all this indeed will take some evil AI turn. Can extrapolate/calculate that from the rich guy direction and the bending of the story to USA current stuff.

I had the same question, but it was answered indirectly in the last episode. When they showed how they operate. They were killing her. They take out "fugitives" with drones. Either shoot them or deploy the "compound". So, in her case a drone high enough in the sky to not be heard dropped the surprise, but there was even a bigger surprise - that she went out in an actually sealed suit (modified from the original design of planted useless suits - "used the good tape").

An open question is why that suit even helps - I still think that it's not some simple poison, but that nanites stuff. But you need something to write a story, so, can squint a bit here.

With what silos can contaminate each other? Except information - to have parallel branches of evolution or alike?

To me more and more feels like each silo is a lab - that also would explain why to wipe out 10k people is the right move. If you look at them as lab rats which broke out and risk to put in danger labs next to it, what would a scientist do? Save rats or the experiment?

If all that is in not so far future and those Directives and Pacts were written by more or less todays generative "AI" then it actually would be believable that they suck and no real decisions are made using them. At no point so far there was mentioned a definite AGI. Also a small question how to power it.

Tho since it is based on some book, which probably was not written yesterday, there totally still is a chance of some AGI surfacing somewhere. Like, for example, we still don't know the whole food chain and how they talked about Directive, The Project + obviously also had memory resets, hints that we saw some middle management and that easy can take a direction that Silo 1 is controlled itself by some AGI. And that also would fit the theme that humans are on the way to obliterate themselves by definition. It's an objective fact, only humans have a problem with objective - AGI tho has math, probabilities calculations and no such problems. Keeping humans in silos as pets also is pretty likely AGI behavior.

Having your descendants a dozen generations down the line carry on that kind of work without going into the weeds with it is basically impossible; that's where an AI would indeed have made sense. Bringing up that, but never mentioning stasis, was probably supporsed to be a red herring here.

• Setting off the nuke right next to the silos suggests it's what I described last week. A big flashy light show to keep the people inside. Otherwise it would have simply been dropped directly on top, and not right after everyone already went inside. It was the "founders" who dropped it.

• Probably, yeah. He described how anxious he is about living in a world where anyone could have access to the kind of weapon he can't buy safety from. He wants to live in that new world. Maybe he takes one of the "shifts" as director every once in a while.

• The vault door leads to a tunnel that in turn leads to silo 1. Every silo has one of those, because they mention that 17 used to have one too until it got flooded.

• The smuggling was done by the mining chief guy and some of his folks. They basically just put the stuff somewhere else so that it wouldn't get lost during the rebellion. Seems that whole plotline was just a way to introduce the elevator into the story, and to show us that the silos were never meant to be able to run forever.

• There doesn't seem to be a mine connection yet, but they are planning to dig one towards silo 1 now, to go on the attack.

They showed him staring fairly intently at that still of Juliette's face from the door camera, so that might be a family resemblance thing. But one additional detail to notice here, is that the recording from the dead guy said "her name is", not "her name was".

They make us like Daniel and Helen so much, give us a gigantic cliffhangar at the end of EP09 and than this... argh, wanna know what happened to her and maybe if she had any impact on the Silo 18 we see today.

Who will be her descendent? That is a must for a story like that...at least I want it to be

What I don't get is...with all the talk about AI in the last two episodes ...how do they don't have any? Instead of using Daniel as Troy, wouldn't an actual AI be better?
