Re: Sherlock
GREAT EPISODE! Urge you all to check it out... Their take on a modern day sherlock is superb and pays homage to the classic novels and the old movies. My only gripe is that sherlock may be a bit young but the storyline and attention to details make the show worthwhile.

I know them but i thought it will be like top gear or doctor who (around 13 episode per season) not this rubbish 3 episodes (which are like 6 "normal" episodes). well , I'll end with a bombshell , Brits are dumber than Americans - until they have a good solid series - they decide to make it a mini series... plain stupidity

Good show, I like it p.s. In second episode when an assassin can't kill for 2 minutes from behind, he also is not trying

Are you serious, as opposed to American shows that make 40 and end prematurely because reviews just aren't up to the Broadcasters antiquated standards. I prefer the british way, where a story is completed and not left me hanging like 80% of our american television. Fuck the U.S. Televesion execs, they are the dumbasses. P.s. I like this show, nice and clever..has an almost Dr. Who feel to it, but then again Moffat has a hand in this.

Re: Sherlock
While I don't agree with the vitriol that godzionu is spewing, I do feel that the second episode was quite a bit weaker than the first. And I don't think it had all that much to do with the fact that Moffat didn't write it. Its saving grace were the characters and their interactions, but the whole case was pretty bad. It started out great, but once the involvement of the Chinese mafia was disclosed it went downhill. There is a time and place (and a person) to take on the Asian mafia (for example The Bride), but it isn't Sherlock Holmes. The finale was also poorly staged and lacked a lot of the gravitas and thrill of the first episode's superb ending. I think that as gifted a writer Moffat is, he really shines in episodes that introduce us to new characters. Doctor Who's season 5 opening would be my favorite episode of his if it wasn't for the outstanding chemistry and romance between Tennant and Myles in "The Girl in the Fireplace" and I'd even argue that "The Empty Child/Doctor Dances" two-parter was the real introduction to the Doctor is season 1. Therefore I think the second episode would have been a letdown even if he had scripted it. I sincerely hope the third episode's going to be more like the first ...

+1 It's mainly 3 episodes as the BBC wanted to see how it was received by the British public (also probably to do with the current economic climate, not wanting to waste loads of money on a longer series, and then for it not be be watched). With 7.5 million viewers for the first episode (that's really really good for a 2100-2230 show) they decided to renew it. Anyway, I agree, this episode was no where near as strong as the first. I think it was too long, it should of been 1.5 hours for the first episode, just as some opening episodes are, and then subsequently hour long episodes...

Re: Sherlock
Well - I might be the only one who liked the second episode more than the first. The first was brilliant - don't get me wrong - but it was merely brilliant because it had to introduce the new characters and build up the chemistry between them. With this job well done the second episode starts right off with no intention but to sove crime. I might be a little preoccupied with the Chinese and Hang Zhou thingy because I've just been there (extremely beautiful) But I liked the story more than the serial killer cabby with a sort of riddle at the end which has been in the movies for ages. Instead using ancient mysteries and mafia themes is never wrong. So yeah - I'm looking forward to the third and final episode of season one and hope that season two will be the same way. I don't want more episodes which are shorter - we already have enough of this.

Re: Sherlock
I completely agree with Marco. I enjoyed this episode in terms of the characters and their interactions and development in a getting to know you kind of way, but the case wasn't as interesting. You didn't really get the feel of Holmes deductive reasoning the way you did with the first episode, and that's what I want to see when watching Sherlock Holmes - his logic and reasoning at work to solve a difficult case.

Re: Sherlock
I have to admit the second episode could have been shorter but it was still not bad. Compared to the first episode which was imo a masterpiece it felt like a slight disappointment tho.
