Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: Adblock messageOr, you know, unblock the ads .. Re: Adblock messageNah, I was pushing for the 10 years but now that it is almost always a "Pay or get lost". There are other reasons but it's not a goal to break the mood so I'll just move on. Already made my own little page anyway. Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: Adblock messageQuinlan, buddy, if after 10 years this site ain't worth disabling adblock for you or paying a little for an ad-free experience - it is time for you to move on indeed. Re: Adblock messageI find it very annoying, i have bought your android app and also bought the in app purchase and i still get this popup that i need to disable my add blocker. Now it's even worst and you have to wait 15 seconds. You should't treat people who already payed you like this. But you made a good job with the random generated css class i must say Re: Adblock message@deinemudda - do you get ads in the app you paid for? Re: Adblock messagesantah wrote:
No but its the same DB i paid for. Just the GUI is different. I paid for the information not the way i access it. So to keep it fair you should disable this for users already paid to you either is via the app or the website because the data is the same. Re: Adblock messageThe services that the app and the site provide (that cost money) are different. The prices are quite different as well. Look, nobody makes you pay, and development and support costs money. If I gave everything for free - I'd have to shut this down. I'd rather not, thank you for your advice though. Re: Adblock messageI do not hate ads, that is not why I have adblock on Re: Adblock messageI've been around for a while and I have previously supported Next-Ep. The latest changes (especially ads related) make me think this project is getting a little too arrogant. If I wish to support someone, I will. If I do not wish to support someone, I will not. The attitude "pay/watch ads or gtfo" is rude and impolite. (I have nothing against saying "hey, your adblock is on, how about turning it off for me or getting premium?", but the lock-out popup is too much. It is not a way to get more paying users, it's a way to annoy and chase out the supporters you have and who have been with you for ages.) I would go premium again to support you, and you would have my money. But as long as your attitude will be "I'll make the experience for normal users as annoying as i can" forcing them into ads or lockouts, you will get no support from me. And this is honestly not meant in a bad way . If I was to get premium at any site, it would be for the reason to support a well-mantained and great project that I like (like NextEp!!), NOT because the project forced me into it by making my experience a disaster otherwise. Please let me know if/when you ever change your misguided approach to this, I will be glad to get premium right away. Until then, AdBlock and normal-user status it is. Re: Adblock messageHow is your experience a disaster and how am I making the experience as annoying as I can for regular users? Have you noticed there is only 1 ad banner on this website, and it's not even in all sections / pages? This is quite the oposite of trying to make the experience as annoying as I can. As for blocking even that 1 ad and being annoyed that I don't allow it - that's a different subject, one that I believe a lot of sites will start doing what I do to fight against, soon. Re: Adblock messagesantah wrote:
Ads are annoying, distracting and unpleasant. I block them whenever I can. I'd rather pay/subscribe to a project than have them get paid for someone else (google) annoying me with ads. HOWEVER, what I meant you "make as annoying as you can" is precisely "blocking even that 1 ad" and the way you do it. If these unpleasant countermeasures are making you money, I am happy for you. Yet at least in my case, they manage to do the exact opposite - lose potential money. I hope one day, you will realise being positive and trusting to your supporters will always bring you more revenue than "trying to fight" them in this way. Again, let me know when you change this mistrusting approach, I'll be happy to pay up . Re: Adblock messageYou'll be happy to pay up if I change my policy to not-paying, adblocking users? And you'd rather pay for a service than see ads (yet you opted for adblocking)? Sorry but both of these are complete BS. Your actions speak for themselves. Either you like Next Episode, find it useful and get premium if you don't want ads - or you block the ads and complain about the adblock popup ruining your experience. Those options exclude each other. We've all seen it a million times. Thanks for your input. Re: Adblock messagesantah wrote:
I'll be happy to support you when I don't feel forced into it. No BS here. And no problem, anytime! Re: Adblock messageRight. 68 2016-03-31 06:25:13 (edited by misfitnz 2016-03-31 06:25:44)Re: Adblock messagekaibren wrote:
When I had to cancel my premium subscription due to life turning to shit I disabled adblock for this site. However now I'm getting the pop-up because my anti-tracking software 'Disconnect' is blocking ads. I'm not keen on allowing tracking and my financial situation is such that my very internet access is threatened so premium isn't an option. Re: Adblock messageAre we also discussing this on e-mail or is this another user from New Zealand? Ads on Next Episode come from AdSense (Google's advertising platform) and are thoroughly reviewed. If that is not safe to whitelist, then nothing on the internet is. Cheers! 70 2016-03-31 07:08:10 (edited by misfitnz 2016-04-15 23:51:58)Re: Adblock messagesantah wrote:
Yep, same person. While I was trying to sort out what was going on and waiting to see if you'd say anything other than "I'll give you a discount on lifetime membership" I thought I'd check the forums to see if anyone else was having issues with something on NE throwing up red flags with anti-tracking software - this thread was as close as I could find. I thought about starting another thread asking about it but figured this one would do as I too have seen that annoying "Congratulations! You have won a million dollars!!! Click here to find out more" ad more often than not. That one and the "You have one new message" ad that caught me out initially as I thought it was a message from Next Episode. santah wrote:
If I were eating from the same table as Google I guess that would be my response too. I hope that you are using a long spoon. Cheers. Re: Adblock messageRight. 72 2016-04-15 21:52:19 (edited by LittleJohn 2016-04-15 21:53:10)Re: Adblock messageNot sure if this has been covered already but I@m using FF v45.0.2 and when I go to this site I get the ad message which very frustratingly can't be closed. I get this on the Calendar and Home links only, which stops me from using those pages at all. I don't mind ads coming up every now and then as it's a way that providers make money. I'm not willing to pay for premium membership and I certainly don't allow tracking of my personal data. I use this site because I've been a member for a long time and am loyal to those apps/sites that are nothing more than a useful tool to people like us (general users). When you start asking for money the users will expect more. By all means offer more to those with premium etc.. membership but please keep the other basic members, who just want the simple solution you offer, happy by allowing them to stay using the system without too much interference. When I use IE edge I don't get ad message (a bug?) but I hate IE for many reasons so primarily use FF. Therefore, santah, firstly thanks for the site. Secondly, is this ad that's stopping me from using the Home and Calendar pages designed like so or should there be a "Close" feature on it somewhere? See below what I see. It would be very disappointing to find this is the case so hope it's a bug with my version of FF. Thanks LJ Re: Adblock messageAny update please santah? Re: Adblock messageI'm sorry, for some reason I missed your first post. Why would you post in here? (and not get in touch through the link I provided in the popup where I would've replied immediately) Anyway. This message pops up when something blocks the ads. Something in your FF installation is blocking the ads. Use the linked rundown of things that may cause this to try and track it down and turn it off/whitelist. I'm here for more assistance if you need it. Re: Adblock messageYou have been having me as a user for years, without paying me anything. Anyone else found any other site since some of us have been forced to leave this site? I found one that is very good at tracking sites, but i severely lacks Katy's thread about new/cancelled/continued shows. Just feels very sad to be forced to leave cause the ability to use the site have been disallowed. That is what long term members are worth? At least I provided an option for you to continue to keep users around. Posts: 51 to 75 of 139Forums - Next Episode → Site comments/suggestions → Adblock message |
