Topic: Adblock message
I didn't realise i had adblock on for this site. Horrible, I know. When i saw the adblock banner, I disabled Adblock for this website, so I can support this website. I know i can also become a premium user. But to be honest, it's to much a year for me, since I'm happy enough with the basic functions. I just wanted to come here and say I think it's an awesome way to let users know about the use of Adblock. I liked the message . So good job to you, Santah!

That's exactly the same with me - I didn't realise there were ads until I saw the message. Some day I will think about premium but for now I disabled Adblock. The ads are not the annoying ones so it's ok.

Re: Adblock message
Hey Santah, I also, didnt realise that you had ads on the website, ive just always had adblock. despite none of the premium features appealing to me as the basic functions are so good, i also found that i have beenusing this site for about 8-10 years without donating a penny. So, i got the yearly membership. hopefully this will help keep the site alive and doing what it does so good. thanks

Re: Adblock message
Maybe put in the cookie or in your log (since you are logging the times the popup is showing) to make it a weekly or daily occurence. As of now, it shows whenever the home page is loaded. Just my 2c (sort of... wrong choice of words I guess).

Maybe because some people visit the site 10+ times a day and the message can have a opposite result in their cases?

or you can disable adblock for this site only. there's only one banner anyway, which is less annoying then popup saying you should disable your adblock. (i figure that's the whole idea)

Not paying for the premium membership no matter what and disabling Javascript for the main page. ;p PS. I'm not saying I'm the person for that example I mentioned.

Re: Adblock message
Let's call this person 'your friend' So why don't your friend just whitelist Next Episode in their adblock? It'd be terrible if the adblock popup showed on a page where javascript was essential ...

Re: Adblock message
The ads come from adsense. Normally they don't allow the type of ads you mentioned. You can easily report those and google will stop showing them to you ... (and will probably remove em from their system) ...

Re: Adblock message
I whitelisted next-episode.net on NoScript what i'm using but that doesnt seem to include googlesyndication.com and googleanalytics.com aswell. And when i whitelist those aswell, they will be whitelisted on every other site i visit aswell, but that is not what i want. So not sure how i can permanantly whitelist those other sites only for next-episode, maybe anyone knows how to do that with NoScript?

Re: Adblock message
How about, anyone that uses adblock looses the use of the forums (or something) So a reduced functionally site.? HomerS wrote:So not sure how i can permanantly whitelist those other sites only for next-episode, maybe anyone knows how to do that with NoScript?
If you use uBlock Origin you can do this. I whitelist NE, but still block all trackers and analytic sites. In Chrome, I use: "ScriptBlock", "Ghostery" and "uBlock Origin". Just to really make sure

That would be like openly saying to people - pay up, watch ads or get the fcuk out.

So you don't want santah to be able to maintain the site? Things cost money. 'tis the way of the world. Users should pay for the services they get. One way or the other.

If you're familiar with my posts then you know that I'm opposed to all kinds of change, whether it's related to how the site looks or how it's browsed. This is the same thing. When you eat cookies for free for seven years and suddenly there's a chance it'll stop a rebel wakes up inside of you. ;p Now it's all about balancing how high you must jump to get more cookies and if you're willing to do that or if you'll start looking for other places with free cookies.

Re: Adblock message
I don't mind those messages at all, and within ad-block you can block these messages the same as ads , not that you should you should white list next-episode.net NOW ! not soon you should never force people to do something they don't want to do those people will leave, better to let them use ad-blockers etc and just let them know that if they white list you they are helping you... like santah is doing already give people the right to choose and some will choose to do the good thing. And isn't everything free on the internet or am I misinformed all this time ? Cheers

Bingo! I didn't want to start a debate on this as it is only a click to close it and all. It barely registers on the "annoying things" scale but for a reason that escaped me, I open the site 10 times that day to check a few things. And since you said : I really hope I'm not annoying users (too much) with this
I guess I got annoyed enough to mentioned that it wouldn't be that bad to make it a once a day thing. Or just maybe make it less intrusive. Like a banner at the top and not splashing in front of everything forcing the click. ALSO : I will not disable adblock for ANY site as much as I love them (and a few other extensions that don't prevent much but enough).

Re: Adblock message
I've just white-listed the site. I don't mind allowing ads on certain sites (Next-Episode only has one ad banner). It helps support a site I like. I still block ads on 99% of sites I visit including YouTube because there so many lol and it's not like they need the extra money. I will become a Premium Member on Next-Episode soon once I've got the spare money, I want to buy a Life-Time Membership so I don't have to worry about renewing it each month. Just wanted to say thanks to santah for keep the site up to date and maintaining it, so many other TV Tracking sites have closed down or became obsolete.

Re: Adblock message
I just decided to pay the monthly fee, as I couldn't justify myself saying "It's too expensive" considering the awesome service I get, when I easily, without hesitation, go to the store to buy a bottle of soda, a bag of chips, or a chocolate bar for the same price. The difference is these last mentioned things last about an hour and also make me fat.
