Re: Luther
No so much British humor for me, but more so British writing seems to differ from American writing. American writing thing happen in a hollywood way. British things happen in a more reality based way, which isn't as logic and is kind of confusing sometimes.

Re: Luther
That's true. More recipe like the Hollywood writing, like in Castle, you always meet the guilty early in the episode, suspect a few others along the wat, before finding the guilty the last three minutes. I don't mind in Castle, love it, but not because of the crime solving. British wiring is more challenging, surprising, and to me that means higher quality.

Re: Luther
You also have the problem with British writing were they get to full of themselves and it stops becoming interesting. Both have their positives and negatives

Re: Luther
Alice was my favorite part of season one as well. Which is one of the reason I still haven't seen season two.

Re: Luther
That's one of the problems I have with a lot of British show... they can't properly "utilize" characters loved by the audience. If this was made in the US Alice would probably have her own spin-off right now.

Re: Luther
And the spin-off would probably suck. American shows are milking all they can, and usually more than they should. Fewer episodes, better writing. Quality>quantity. Imho.

Re: Luther
General rule of thumb is season two of any show will suck. They might fix what the broke around middle of season three, but by then it's to late. Shows that don't have that problem will if they make it to season 6 at which point it never gets fixed. Still take US style over British though.

What a sweeping statement. The British have made some outstanding TV shows over the years in a wide range of styles, just as the US has.

Re: Luther
Not a sweeping statement if the facts back it up. In a 22 episode format I can pick out six episode that are good giving the rest of the episodes bonus time with the characters. In the British format their is no guarantee that all six episodes are going to be stellar. Also even British shows I've seen with 13 episodes seasons have had some really bad episodes as well.

But that's just your opinion. How can a matter of taste be fact? If you don't like a show because you personally don't think it's good, doesn't mean everyone else does. You not liking it doesn't make it a bad show. It's all personal opinion not fact. I watched about 20 episodes of "Archer" because so many people here love it, and I hated every one of them so I gave up. Would I be correct if I said it's a bad show?
2020. Meh.

Re: Luther
Alice is part of season 2, at least the first two episodes. The new gov is cool, Luther is still the king, the writing is still excellent. I can't imagine how the last two episodes can make season 2 suck, if that's what you're getting at.. And do you seriously wanna see 6 good episodes of a show, then settle for mediocre or bad to have more time with the characters!?? I'm about to tell you to get a life, but that would be misplaced in these forums.

Re: Luther
Still take US style over British though. Your realize that was a person preference statement about what I prefer when it comes to shows right. At no point was I saying that it was the rule everyone must follow. I never talk for someone else, and all my facts backing up my personal statement is just what I'm using to reinforce why I'm saying what I'm saying. ------------------ And do you seriously wanna see 6 good episodes of a show, then settle for mediocre or bad to have more time with the characters!?? I'm about to tell you to get a life, but that would be misplaced in these forums. You know what go for it. You obvious think your better then everyone, at least me based solely on how I choice to spend my free time. So what's stopping you? A backbone if you want my opinion. How someone chooses to spend their free time, is their own damn business. Arrogant people like you makes trying to have a civil conversation impossible. Why do you even bother posting in a television discussion when you obvious have no intentions of listening to other people. Does your ego in real life get destroyed so soundly everyday that the only solace you get is having it stroked online? I ask that out of just general curiosity. I just honestly don't how people like you wake up every day and say to yourself 'today I'm going to be a complete twat for no reason at all'. If you want to discuss this, I'm more than willing. I mean after all, as you put it I have no life. Just own up to what you think. That passive aggressive shit might work on the kids on the playground, but I left that shit behind when I grew up.

Are you serious? You're that touchy? You manage to misinterpret my post that much? I should have spelled it out to you. I said I was about to, but chose not to, as I felt it would be misplaced in a forum crowded with people, myself obviously included, who choose to spend this much time watching TV-shows. Have you no sense of humour? Please, you're not getting my message, I know we disagree, I don't mind that we do. Maybe my english is unclear and badly written, I'm Norwegian, so it's far from prefect. There was nothing more than discussion and banter intended. And how is me putting my opinion out there the same as thinking I'm better than anyone? Do I not listen? Why do you even bother posting in a television discussion when you obvious have no intentions of listening to other people. How is this being any less of a twat? I never attacked you personally, you really came out swinging against me.

Are you sure? How was i passive aggressive, and since when do kids on the playground use passive aggressive shit?

Re: Luther
Just finished the show, loved the 2nd season too. Luther seriously is a fucked up man! And via imdb I discovered that Warren Brown( Ripley) is a 2xThai boxing world champion...??? That's kickass. Literally. Waiting for 3rd season.

I was not surprised, given the way the camera shots were going. But it was still a surprise, because it was so well done. This show has always had good production values.

The first story was cool, but my only complain is that ▼Spoiler the killer used his real name when signing in. Really?
