Outcast is the spooky new show from Robert Kirkman, best-known for creating The Walking Dead. It airs on Cinemax starting June 3, but the first episode is now available for viewing on a variety of platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and HBO and Cinemax’s On Demand services.
That level of accessibility signals the network’s confidence in the Image Comics adaptation, which it describes thusly:
OUTCAST follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.
Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl) plays the haunted Kyle Barnes, with Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks) and Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation) among the supporting cast. Rising horror talent Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) directs episode one, which you can view right now if you have an hour to spare and don’t scare too easily:
I usually like to wait for a season to reach near it's conclusion before starting the binge but I may give this one the Colony treatment and give the pilot a go later on today. I haven't read the comics as of yet but it's highly on my to-do list. If you haven't already, and you happen to be a fan of the comics, you might want to add this to your list and give it a shot.
