Re: Sherlock
Luther, Sherlock, and The Glades were the three best new shows of 2010 I thought, Justified being up there as well. The one thing I don't like about the UK is that they make some great shows that have very few episodes a year. Sherlock going to only have 3 more 90min episodes, and I thought Luther was going to have 4 1hour episodes but I guess it changed to the 2 2hour ones. Either way there should be more

That's true. I heard a rumour that to fund the return of Doctor Who they had to cut the budget of EVERY BBC produced show by something like a third. That might be completely made up, but it's a great fact if not!
2020. Meh.

Proof that they're making more. Mark Gatiss posted this pic on his Twitter account today of the guys at a read though: http://twitpic.com/4vx025 Yay for Sherlock.

I already read one comment on LJ wondering if that was Martin making a move.

Re: Sherlock
Actually the first real proof (or mention) that they are working on the second season was this - IMHO pretty ingenious tweet on April 26 from @steven_moffat: (It's a fantastic picture, too.)

Re: Sherlock
So glad this is back, I really enjoyed the first episode. This just puts the movie that just came out to shame, this is everything a Sherlock show/book/movie should be unlike the horrible film.

As Mycroft said to Watson about her death, "Only Sherlock could trick me" (or words to that affect), so he did really save her...

No, much more simple.
▼Spoiler It was Sherlock holding the sword at the end, telling her: "When I say run, run".

Re: Sherlock
▼Spoiler So yes Sherlock both saved her and faked her death If only this was a US show...in only that it could have 13-22episodes...I really kind of wanted to see all those cases he was solving...I just really like this show . This case spanned the course of a year I think.

Re: Sherlock
Aside from the nature shows this has to be one of the best shows the BBC is producing at the moment. Sharp and witty writing balanced with the right amount of action. As a side note is it just me but woul'nt it be easy to move the characters of Sherlock and Watson to the Doctor and his assistant. Guess thats what happens when one man writes them both lol

yeah, it was hard to not see Sherlock as the Doctor. specially when they are both young men at the moment.

Re: Sherlock
I'm ok with only having a few episodes a season that are high caliber episodes then run a show with twenty plus episodes and be mediocre at best. Usually we have to wait an entire season for the amount of thrills that one, albeit very extended, second season opener. At the very least, i'm excited to see what they have in store for us next.

I wanted to report this post as it didn't have enough superlatives to pin point the awesomeness of this episode.

Re: Sherlock
I'm really pleased with the way they treated the the relationship between Sherlock and Irene Adler. I was dreading them using the excuse that it's a modern day retelling to make their encounters more sexual. *shudder* When of course everyone knows Sherlock and John were meant to be.

Re: Sherlock
Although I'm sure no one cares as Watson keeps pointing out. This show is the best adaptation to the Sherlock character I've ever seen, and the writing is just tremendous. I just really want to was an episode that has The Doctor meeting Sherlock, the level of intelligences/brilliance between those two would make for a terrific scene. I know it won't ever happen because it wouldn't make any sense story wise but since the writer is the same for both shows so I can dream.
